UPSC Interview preparation

Congratulations to all of you who have cleared the mains exam! Just one hurdle left now!
Since I had got 240/300 and 223/300 in my interviews, many aspirants have asked me to give some tips on the same. I have made a video with some tips and my answers to some frequently asked questions in the IAS interview. Hope it helps in your preparation. If you have any doubts, please post in the comments under the video and I would try my best to help.

  1. Hello mam,

Thank you so much for sharing the video.
Since interview is my only saviour now, I would be greatful if you could help me with the following funny little things:

    1. How long should a perfect reply be? It obviously differs as per each question, but many have told me to use minimum number of words. How did you handle it?

    2. While answering questions did you looked straight into the eyes of the person who had asked the question? Do we neglect the other members when they are staring at us?

    3. For 'Why Civil Services now?', you talked about how you felt you wanted to contribute to the soceity during the job. Can we narrate specific incidents during the job? Will it bore them?

    4. Again, for 'Why Civil Services?', if I say 'public service' and they cross question me, 'Why did you not join a NGO then?'

    5. My optional was Commerce & Accountancy. Did they ask you specific questions with respect to the optional? If yes, then please share them.

    6. How many mocks should I give? Some are adivising to go for as many as I can and some are saying to take only a couple of them. Any mock interviews from specific coaching institutions that you would advise?( I have registered for Samkalp and Vajiram for now)

    7. The most important question: Anything specific that you did to keep your calm on that crucial day?( I am hell scared and feeling like a 'anpadh gawar' right now)

Thank you so much for even reading this and taking out your valuable time. I apologize for such a long list of questions.

    Regards,
    Rahul Saraf
