Notes from PIB

To make notes from PIB website ( pib.nic.in) is extremely important as it covers almost all news which are related to government and administration. Some questions like steps taken to check piracy etc are answered point-wise in the releases.

My sample notes can be seen and downloaded...Some of them the static things might be useful to you but you need to update them with happenings each day till mid-November.

    1. @Sathish .. This is very important according to me and it does not take much of your time if done on sharing basis with a couple of friends..But make sure you make concise notes as it else it becomes difficult to revise...Good luck..

  5. Hello maam,
Thank you for providing this forum. Please also throw some light on the following:

    1. Newspaper coverage:- what strategy you felt was most efficient in covering newspapers and making notes?
    2. How many newspapers you felt need to be covered (for only GS...no optional related to current)
    3. making PIB notes and supplementing it with only opinion part of newspaper shall be beneficial and sufficient?

look forward to your kind reply
    many thanks

    1. 1. News part of Hindu are covered by coaching notes..You should focus on editorials of Hindu and Indian express...
      2. Give time constraints 2 newspapers + 1 business newspaper ( can be left, but must for some optionals like eco, commerce, management)
      3. I don't think just that would be sufficient as you can see from my long reading list of GS...

  6. also maam, one more question-
as you know PIB is quite comprehensive. Please do share how you used to cover it (in a group- as mentioned).. like which parts- features, backgrounders.. then was it daily coverage/weekly...etc.
    will be really helpful

    thanks once again

    1. We used to make notes daily of the daily updates on PIB...Then the features and backgrounders can be done monthly...The important thing here is to make brief notes of "important" topics only and not copy paste directly from PIB website...In the end, you would get around 60-70 pages of notes..The sample notes for last year have been uploaded above to give an idea how to make them...

    1. Newspaper you should start from now, if you haven't till now...PIB you can start from around Nov..

I just glossed through some magazines to see if i haven't missed anything important..

Brief notes would help you revise them...Also selecting what is important is extremely important.

    3. You have to choose what to read and what not according to its importance for the exam and time available with you....obviously you should not re-read the same thing from many sources as that is a wastage of time unless there is different point of view being made...
